Application of Evaporation
1.Refrigerator: uses the principle of condensation & evaporation to keep its content cold
2.Drying clothes; it is common here in S'pore thta we see every household hanging their clothes on a bamboo pole, this uses the idea ofevaporation to dry it
Factors that affects the rate of evaporation
1.Temperature:
Higher tempt, rate of evaporation is faster
2.Humidity:
As humid increases, rate of evaporation decreases
3.suface area Exposed:
Larger suface area, the faster the rate of evaporation
4.Movement of air:
Moving air(wind) is present, evaporation increases
5.Pressure:
Lower atmospheric pressure(higher altitude), increase rate of evaporation
6.Boiling point of liquid:

a liquid is changed to a gaseous state(water vapour)
Why does the outside of your cold glass have water droplet? Why is the mirror in the shower fogged up after you step out?

(a)reverse f boiling point, from gaseous to liquid state

(a) a process where solid is changed to liquid state
(b) Melting point of ice is 0ºC
Solidification
(a) reverse of melting, from liquid to solid state
(b) Since the melting point of ice is 0ºC, solidification starts to occur
(c)When solid melts the strong intermolecular bonds needs to be broken, to do so energy is needed. That is why there is no change in the temperature during melting.
(d)When liquid molecule come together & solidfy, intermolecular bonds are formed. THERMAl energy is therefore given out
